Landgasthof Ropfer

Story with
character.

The small hamlet of Buchen looks back on a long history – it was probably first settled in the 13th or 14th century. The Ropferhof itself also dates back to this time and was originally owned by the Weyarn monastery in Upper Bavaria.

In 1478, the farm became the property of Wilten Abbot Alexius Stoll, who acquired several estates in Telfs and on the Adige from the monastery. Particularly exciting: around 1900, the former inn played an important role as a smugglers’ inn. Border trade between Bavaria and the upper Inn Valley flourished on the infamous “Handelbank” – and some of the proceeds from these often semi-legal transactions ended up directly in today’s Ropferstub’m.

Where the mountains listen quietly, the Ropfer tells of the past. A past that lives on.

Old inspires new.

In 2004, the Ropferhof was lovingly renovated to a high standard with a keen sense of its history. Today it is a stylish apartment house for guests looking for something special: modern architecture, fine materials and a breathtaking view make it a real hideaway on the edge of the Seefeld plateau.
Whether direct access to the Olympic cross-country ski trail, hiking and biking routes from the farm, horse riding, sauna or the fully equipped kitchen – alpine charm meets contemporary comfort here.

Museum

If you want to take a look into the past, our small farm museum is just the place for you. It tells of life in earlier generations, of everyday farming life high up on the plateau and of the transformation of a traditional Tyrolean farm over the centuries.

We have collected historical objects, tools, photos and personal memories with great attention to detail. They not only show how people used to live and work, but also give a sense of what makes the Ropferhof so special to this day: down-to-earthness, craftsmanship, family.

A visit is ideal for bad weather days, small groups or coach travelers – also with a short, personal introduction.
